Apologies to those of you who occasionally visit the site. I have been dealing with some heart issues, thankfully corrected, and have neglected to maintain the site for the past few months. As a result I neglected to pass along the very sad news that Ruth Elmer, wife of Jim Elmer and one of the rocks of the 815th, passed away on January 6, 2023. Ruth was a friend to me and the 815th and I will miss her greatly. I deeply regret not posting this earlier and can almost picture Ruth giving me one of those looks that she gave me every time I screwed up around her. Sorry, Ruth.
Ruth's obituary is posted. I have deleted all the older obituaries and am in the process of scrubbing the roster for additional losses. If anyone is aware of the passing of a Jennie or spouse in the last 12 months please let me know.
I have also modified our latest roster to reflect the losses we have experienced over the last couple of years. If anyone would like a revised roster let me know and I'll send you a pdf copy. If anyone aware of any changes or errors - address and phone number changes, and, particularly, losses that we have not memorialized, please let me know. Unfortunately more and more deaths are memorialized by obituaries that are not published in the newspaper or other public domains, so I know I'm not finding all of them.
The website is getting pretty stale and I am about out of ideas to spice it up a little. I know there are war stories and pictures out there waiting to be heard and seen so if anyone out there has anything they would like to contribute let me know at [email protected]. I have reserved the domain name for another year and plan to keep the site up for the time being so fresh material will be welcome.
